I saw this set awhile ago and finally bought it after it went on sale half price! I had a coupon code for an additional 20% off so I got this set for $19! I ordered it on Thursday and received it on Sat which is really fast service for standard shipping. http://www.urbandecay.com/

The box is big 10" x 6" with a magnetic closure. Cute box to keep your makeup in on your vanity.

The Eye Shadow Primer Potion: I usually use the elf primer so far it seemed the same but the wand is bent which I liked. I will post in my comments tonight about how it lasted after wearing it all day.

Urban Decay Supercurl curling mascara: I like it. The wand is rounded and the mascara is very thin and moist. My lashes did not clump at all and the look good.

Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder: I have used this powder before and do like it. It has an attached puff which is good it won't get lost but you can't clean it so it is best to shake in lid and use a powder brush. I think in photos you do have an airbrushed look but in person it doesn't give the covereage I like. The small version you get in this kit has a Mirror on top. The jar also has an open and close feature so your powder doesn't spill out.

All Nighter long lasting makeup setting spray: I will have to post in my comments if my makeup lasts all day. I did like it because it was an even spray, no smell and dried quickly.

Marsh Mallow sparkling lickable body powder: I like this powder it addeds shimmer and does taste good. My box was not leaking like other bloggers have posted. It is a cute box for display with a white tassle on top.

Lip Junkie lip gloss in Midnight Cowboy: I really like this gloss it is cooling and minty. It is plumping also but I don't see a change. I like the color it is a nude shimmer. The only thing I did not like is the thickness of the gloss which was a little sticky. I am used to mark. Juice Gems which are not sticky.

Shellac Manicure

I had the opportunity to get The Shellac Manicure at beauty by bee from Nails by Carrie this past week. This was my first experience with A Shellac Manicure. In the past I have had Acrylic Nails and in the last two years gone with just natural nails. I love natural nails but I can't keep the polish on and I don't have time to do my nails every other night. The Shellac Manicure can last much longer up to 2 weeks. My nails have not chipped which is really good since my nails don't hold polish, so I am already impressed. The treatment is very easy on the client. My treatment started with a manicure (shaping, soaking and pushing back cuticles). Next step was to add the pink polish then it is set with UV light after each coat. We topped the polish with a color called Vegas Nights which is a shimmer not a glitter which looks festive but not childish. Then some lotion and a hand and arm massage. My favorite part is your nails are completely dry no drying time! It seems impossible to me being a long time Acrylic nail girl and having to wait 20 minutes and then carry my keys so carefully, try to get my seat belt on and not mess up my nails. I usually did but didn't want to go back because it already took so long. The Shellac Manicure took less than an hour which is good news this could be done on a lunch hour and you could go back to work and type right away. I also love the fact my nails look natural .

March Julep maven box Boho Glam

Yesterday I received my March Julep Maven box. It is always exciting to have a box waiting for you after a hard day of work. So first off I want to say I LOVE the Julep Elixir. It is Moroccan Argan oil per the insert I received it is legendary for its healing, conditioning and anit-aging properties. It is to be used daily to nourish skin, smooth split ends or soften cuticles. I tried it last night on one hand to see what it would do. I am truly amazed the hand with oil looks softer and smoother and feels good. The hand that did not get treated with oil is reddish and has dry white patches and feels not so good. I checked the price and it is $24 well worth it. It also comes with a dropper for easy application. A++ on this product. I also got a nail file and two polishes Alicia which is a sunny salmon color and Portia Sheer tropical blue with glittery sparkles. I like the blue sparkles but I think it would look good over another polish since it looks clear with turquoise sparkles. In case you didn't notice I changed my box type I like Boho Glam better. Julep is very flexible with any changes you want to make. Please see pictures below.

Boho Blended Scarf

I have a few scarfs but never wear them. When I got my preview from mark. and I saw this scarf I decided this is one I have to try. The scarf is lightweight and very soft. I wore it all day and the scarf was not itchy and I did not have to adjust it at all. It did keep me warm in the A/C without being too warm for a walk outside. See a few ways to wear this scarf below. It dresses up a Tee shirt and jeans or can be worn under a blazer for work. It is thin so it will go under a jacket perfectly. Now I have a scarf fetish and hope I can find some others I like too. I have my eye on one at the world market. I will keep you posted.

FACE: Apply get a tint shimmer in a complimentary shade all over the face. Then dust glowdacious in shade prettied up all over the face. Then apply just pinched in shade cheeky on the apples of the cheeks and blend upward.

EYES: Sweep on the dot in shade 3 over the lids. Apply shade 1 along the brow bones to highlight. Run shade 6 along the lower lash lines using the mark. flat eyeliner brush. How to look good in your photos

I wanted to share a few tips on how to look polished and pretty in your photos.

#1 Use a primer for the face.

After you wash your face and moisturize put on face primer it will even out your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and give your foundation some staying power. I use VS Pro face primer $14 or mark Primed for protection face primer $10.

#2 Use an eye primer

This will make the pigments in your shadow deeper and give your shadow all day staying power. I use Elf eye primer $1 or mark Please hold eye primer $8 (mark primer is also a concealer) so it is duo purpose.

#3 Don't over apply your makeup.

I have seen models and others do their makeup and the myth is to apply tons of makeup. This is wrong you will look like someone who has too much makeup. If you want to glow use a highlight above the cheeks. If you do red lips think neutral tone for eyes and cheeks.(Marilyn Monroe) If you do an exotic or smokey eye use a peachy or nude lip (think Victoria Secret Models)

#4 When posing for a photo never face and stand straight.

Lean one of your shoulder back, stand a little to the side and then look back at the camera, tilt your head a little. All these techniques can make you look more confident and more photogenic.

It is a subtle difference but the second picture is better.

I used mark min-a-real foundation and powder buff foundation for powder. For eyes, cheeks, highlight and lips I used touch & glow shimmer cream cubes all over face palette with a bit of glow baby glow gloss in smooches and get in line liquid liner in black with two coats of lash all you want in black. For skincare I used calming effect cleanser, for goodness face spf 30 moisturizer and get defensive spf 15 eye cream. My skin looks and feels good. I am also protecting my skin which is smart.

I attended the two year anniversary celebration of the Belle Handbags and Accessories boutique in Murrieta California. I love boutiques and a french theme, well if you follow my blog you know how much I love anything French. It is a nice boutique with large fitting rooms and a good variety of handbags and accessories. They have la Vie Parisianne Jewelry, LA Idol Jeans, Brazilian Booty Lifters and much more. I found so many things I liked but finally decided on a beautiful leopard top and a fantastic turquoise and silver colored ring. Today I received the mark Tress Your Best Hair Pin! The pin is absolutely beautiful. As light hits it from different angles it shimmers and glows. This would be so beautiful for a bridal updo. So I like to try new cosmetics and I like good deals. I have to admit I don't take care of my hands and don't buy alot of polishes I have maybe 5 polishes 4 of them are mark and I have 1 Avon. I tried the glycolic hand scrub and my hands are noticeably soft and I love the smell of citrus. The cuticle oil smells like the spa and it has a little roller ball already loving it. The polish is nice easy to apply I really like the (Alfie) I knew I would. I tried the (Cameron) which I was sure I would not like and I love it! I guess the quiz works! I worked with a model Amanda at a recent photoshoot using mark cosmetics. I used the mark powder buff foundation in natural to even out skin tone. I used the it kit flip kit with ruffle (white) in the inner corners of the eye and as a highlight at the brow line, Vanity (silver grey) on the lid up into the crease and Ombre (black) on the outer corner of eyes blended inward and into crease a bit for a bit of a smoke effect. I also put Ombre under the lower lashline. For liner I used get in line liquid liner in black and on the inner lash line I used jet set pencil liner. For the brows I used mark Brow Factor Hook Up Clear Brow Gel and for the mascara two coats of Scandalash and then applied ardell lashes. I used a bronzer in pro golden as a blush for a natural glow. For the lips I used mark Mini Mark It Stick Hook Up Stick in Apricot as a lip liner with sigh lip gloss from the it kit flip kit on top. I also used the Touch and glow shimmer cream cubes for highlights from above the cheek bone in a c around the eye to above the brow. Tim Burton Exhibit at the LACMA

Today I went to the LACMA to see the Tim Burton exhibit. It was even better than I had expected. There are several rooms with his work which included, drawings, painting, writings, dolls and wood sculptures. There was so much more than that it is hard to include everything. I also like the glow in the dark room it had a special exhibit. I was a huge fan of his work but now I am an even bigger fan. My favorite pic is Blue Girl with wine. I also really love a pic that is untitled but it is from the trick or treat section and it is a black and white pic that makes you feel like you are looking down at a doorway. There was also some movie costumes from Batman and Edward Sizzor hands. A new movie will be out 2012 Frankenweenie and some of the characters were on display one was called weird girl she was super cool looking. I can't wait to see what she is like. If you can make it to this do it! I bought his book with some of his work since you cannot take photos of the exhibit. (which I did not like that!) It can be difficult to achieve that perfect cat-eye look with your liquid liner – the little ‘flick’ at the corner is sometimes hard to get right, so here are a few tips: 1. Start by lining the top lash line, stopping before you get to the outer edge of the eye 2. Draw a faint line to use as your guide, starting where your lower lash line meets the corner of the upper lash line – to get the angle of this line right, imagine a line going from the edge of your nostril to the outer corner of the eye and on to the outer edge of your brows – that’s the line you should follow! Start with a short line for a little ‘flick’ until you’ve had some practice! 3. Once you’ve drawn a thin, faint line as a guide, you create the ‘flick’ by drawing from the tip of that line back toward the upper lash line, and then filling in with your liner. Remember, practice makes perfect!

I have worked with Kurt (Kurt’s Photography) on many occasions for group shoots and private studio shoots. Kurt has a great eye for detail, color and lighting. I have built up my portfolio with some really high quality photos. See my interview with Kurt below.

Photography Q & A with Kurt's Photography

Deedee: What part of photography do you enjoy the most?

Kurt: I like setting-up the shoot, even though it's the most work and the part that goes unnoticed.

Deedee: What inspires you to take a picture?

Kurt: Sometimes things have an interesting look. But like many photographers, I just enjoy taking pictures and working with people

Deedee: What would you say to someone who thinks they want to be a professional photographer?

Kurt: I do photography mostly as a hobby, but also organize Group Shoots which requires budgeting, per there's high costs like rental. (I've come across people whose ideas would cost $4000, but would only take-in $500. That doesn't work.) I would say they should be good with expenses and already have some camera equipment. They should also have a portfolio. The expenses are very important per many photographers tend to Over-Spend on Equipment. The portfolio may seem like a given, but there's photographers and models that want to be professional, but don't have portfolios. There's another thing, they need to communicate and show-up.

Deedee: What kind of equipment do you use and why?

Kurt: My equipment is Budget-Minded and mostly for portraiture and some sports like beach volleyball for cameras, I like the Canon 40D, digital body for general use. For lenses; I mostly use a Tamron 28-75 f2.8, and Canon 70-200 f4. Yes, there's better equipment...Especially for Sports, but it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. I don't need 10 frames/second and usually anticipate certain things. So, this setup is adequate.

For most of the volleyball tourneys I've attended, it's the amateurs that have the "Best" equipment and the staff photographers and organizers are using what's called "Kit" lenses. Their goal is probably Content, not quality or speed. But, if you need such a fast camera and lens, plus don't anticipate well, then yes, get upgraded equipment.

Deedee: What is the benefit of a group shoot versus a private shoot?

Kurt: Many reasons, but the Top 4 Reasons for a Group Shoot is getting to work with several models, lower costs-like sharing costs of a rented location, meeting people in-advance, and great for testing.

Deedee: What should models and makeup artists know before they work at a photo shoot?

Kurt: I think the most important thing is the Time Frame. Let's say you have 3 hours. What if someone is 1 hr late? If a location or studio is rented, there's No such thing as rescheduling...Plus, the makeup artist or photographer may not be open on another day. It's also good to know what type of shoot or look-clothing, and whether it's indoors or outdoors.

A couple years ago I had the opportunity to work with and do makeup for Sarah on a photo shoot. Sarah is a professional, fun and creative person. Sarah is in the running for Miss California 2012. Here is my recent interview with her. Give Sarah your support she will make a great Miss California.

Deedee: How long have you been modeling?

Sarah: Funny you ask that because it feels as if I have been doing it for ten years, but I have been modeling on and off for about 3 years now. I love the work, I love the makeup and hair especially makeup!! But it is so different then I ever imagined. I learned so much in these few years, not only about the outside of a model, like the hair clothing makeup but about myself. What is my personal style, what fits my personality as well as my "look" I never imagined modeling to be such a grand learning experience I really hope to continue to do it for another 10 years lol! =)

Deedee: Why did you decide to run for Miss California?

Sarah: When I decided to run for Miss California I was home in the middle of the night looking on craigslist for a job =). I was tired of the direction my life was going, I was let off work, I had an argument with my mom about my ugly old car, and I needed a new direction, something to change my mind set and feelings about how life was going for me. I saw a post that said something about Miss California and I thought hey I live in California I could do this!! I had a phone interview, then another interview and next thing I know I'm sitting in the office with Erick (the official recruiter) talking about what to do next. It was the right thing for me win or lose, I just jumped in.

Deedee: What is your favorite charity and what inspires you about their work?

Sarah: When it came down to picking a charity I almost died I couldn't just pick one! But what helped me pick children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was my love for children, my understanding about how important their futures are. I had a talk with my Mom about not being able to choose from homelessness, women empowerment to the environment, there are so many people who need help and I couldn't just pick one!! She suggested St. Jude and said it's an organization that helps every child with cancer. As I researched I also learned St. Jude shares their research with hospitals and scientist all over the world =). What inspired me the most was their true mission to help all children not only here in the

USA

but everywhere. They do not want a child to be sick and not treated; they want every child to have the opportunity for a happy, healthy life.

I will also be helping my family with a charity we have been supporting for a couple years now called the Buddy Walk. The walk is to support and spread awareness of Downs Syndrome and to help families who have children with Downs Syndrome and organizations and programs that help I have meet and Know wonderful children with D.S and want family's to have support and the help they need to better the lives of their children.

Deedee: What advise would you give to someone who aspires to be a model?

Sarah: Its import to know what you want out of modeling, do you want to be a runway model? Cover girl type? Do you want to be more edgy and do implied or nudity? print work? Commercials? If you have a path to follow stick to it because once a picture is taken consider it available to public if you have a bugger everyone will see it, they take one of you eating they will point it out to you and laugh, if your outfit is blue and you have red nails they will point it out. But it should not matter because it is your picture your beautiful with or without that the green thing in your nose! Remember they are your pictures you should never feel uncomfortable about an outfit or follow any suggestion a photographer or fellow model says that makes you feel weird.

Deedee: What is the one cosmetic you must have in your makeup bag?

Sarah: oh that’s tough.... just one.... it will be eyeliner!!! It could make your tired eyes look big and awake, put some in your waterline and you have a more sultry look. Smuge it a bit for a sexy smoky eye! But you need to have in your make up bag at least eyeliner, mascara and a compact... this can be an everyday thing Mascara gives your eyes an extra pop and the compact will help even the skin tone and cover small imperfections, also help with oily skin <3

Deedee: What are your interests besides modeling?

Sarah: I love working in the theater on stage or back stage the work is challenging and always changing, it takes a lot of time and dedication to a project but the feeling of accomplishment is unbelievable!! I love to dance, I belly dance with my sisters for years although I'm not the best, I love to go out and feel the music, the drum beats and the bond with my family. I'm also learning about small business because I have an idea for a purse line I would love to design and sell.

Deedee: What else do you want my readers to know about you?

Denielle's Jewelry Designs

I have worked with Denielle (pronounced Den-eel) on my latest bridal photo shoot. Her work is amazing. I especially love her triple band bracelets. Denielle is very creative I asked her for bridal jewelry and she delivered such a variety of earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Denielle was the one to suggest using some pale pinks and blues which she knew was the latest trend for brides in Jewelry. Denielle has started a new line of cell phone charms which can be doubled as purse charms. At the bottom of my interview with Denielle is a link to her facebook fan page.

Deedee: How long have you been designing Jewelry?

Denielle: I have been designing jewelry since November of 2009 - started with bracelets

Deedee: What types of jewelry inspire you the most?

Denielle: There are specific brands that inspire me although my styles DO differ - Brighton is a big inspiration and 1928 is cool too.

Deedee: What advise do you have for someone who would like to make Jewelry?

Denielle: My advise is to take risks!! Also, I started out just making bracelets because my cousin made them and then I found out that it was a stress outlet so I highly recommend trying it.

Deedee: What types of material do you work with?

Denielle: I use ALL sorts of materials - stretchy bracelet string, wire, polymer beads, glass beads, swarovski crystals & almost all the stuff I design is silver

Deedee: What do you think the trend for fall will be for Jewelry?

Denielle: Honestly, I don't even keep up with current trends, sorry!

Deedee: What Jewelry piece do you want to design but have not done so yet?

Denielle: I would really love to try different type of wire wrapping for bracelets and necklaces. I have tried a certain type and love it

Deedee: What do you think the value is to costume Jewelry versus fine Jewelry?

Denielle: Well, for me, costume jewelry is more affordable, for sure and it allows the person to have many different styles whereas fine jewelry is the best just not in everyone's budget.

TIGI Bed Head Deep Waver

I have long straight hair I have for years. I love the way my hair looks when it is curled but perms are no good and the curling iron just doesn't last. I was about to cut my hair shoulder length for a change but decided to try the deep waver first. I am so glad I did! I read the reviews watched girls use it on you tube. The claims were it heats up in 30 seconds! It does. Another claim is the curls last all day. Well so far they have and my hair doesn't hold curl. It works fast I did my whole head in about 20 minutes. I have really long hair! It is a really pretty blue and is a ceramic style iron which is supposed to be good for your hair. I even used it on dry clean hair with no hair spray and it still curled and is still holding. I'm sold on this for sure. Only bad thing is you have to hold it shut when crimping your hair which does get tiring after awhile. I got mine on amazon.com.

So anyone who knows me knows I have to go to all the boutiques and makeup stores. Inglot is a new find to me so I bought a much needed lipliner there. I love the pigments in the products. I got a pink lip liner almost the color of my own lips. If you use a lipliner the color of your lips you can draw the lips bigger without it looking fake or weird and add a really pretty lipgloss. Just be sure to color the entire lip don't just line your lips. I learned this trick from a model on a photoshoot. I bought the sharpener too which I thought was a bit boring and elementary school like but I am in love with the liner. I also like that the whole pencil is pink so I can find it easily in my purse or makeup bag. I use mark pro gloss plumping lip shine in sexy over the pencil to finish the look. Last night I tried mark nail polish for the first time. I got a two pack of polishes one aqua and one coral. I would normally go for the coral polish but did the aqua anywas and I love it. The color is well pigmented and smooth not much of a smell either. I will let you know how long before my polish chips. I discovered a new makeup artist store! It is called Inglot. It is new to california. The brand originated in poland. The product is high pigment comparable to MAC the price is much less. If you are a professional working artist and can prove it with a business card and website you can get a pro card which gives you a 20% discount. I bought some feather lashes and a eyeshadow palette with turquoise, orange and purple I can't wait to use it. Spring 2011 Fashion Show (Newport Beach, CA)

Today I went to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, I haven't been in at least 15 years. It is such a nice mall. When I was 16 I worked at this mall in the Robinson's which is now a Macy's. Style expert Tim Gunn was at the fashion show giving tips and advise on fashion. He is so funny and really made the show alot of fun. The designers that were showcased were Juicy Couture, Kate Spade and Lucky Jeans. Micheal Castello was in the audience as well. The colors were bright lots of green, yellow, pink and orange definitely a flashback to high school for me. Stripes were big too. I did try on a Kate Spade dress that was cotton Jersey and some gold super high heels. I loved the outfit but did not buy it due to the $600 it would cost me but I really liked it. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the dressing room was so cute with green patterned wallpaper with a big red chandelier. If you ever get a chance to go to one of these shows you should. Feather hair extensions

I am not really a trendy but when I saw a link on my facebook for these extensions I had to try them out. I have light blonde hair so I decided on the natural tones I have two sets of three. Each set has one burnt orange, one wheat and one white. I love the look it gives a bit of a boheimian look but it is very subtle. In all my many years I have never had so many compliments on my hair. These extensions come in all different colors too. I have washed and dried my hair and they still look new it has been two weeks. If you have considered this trend try it out I am very happy I did. Last Saturday I went to a mark meetup. I am an independant mark representative and want to learn as much about the product I sell as possible. The lunch was at Pizza Fusion in Temecula. The pizza was good and the green tea iced tea was also really good and I don't usually drink tea I love my coffee. I would eat there again for sure. Now for the lunch our mark mentor (Chelsea) is really great she brought all the new products with her for us to see. The products are good quality and I am buying the new mark fragrance (Ibiza Sol) for myself. Ibiza is green blue in color and the bottle is super cute. The fragrance is really light but not too light. Notes of honeysuckle, pear, white geranium and musk it will be available for sale to the public on April 22nd at http://dthompson.mymarkstore.com/ . We also got a makeup demo from a seasoned makeup artist (Michelle Jackson) so that was really cool for me to attend a mini workshop as well. I enjoy workshops and I have found other makeup artists to have so much knowledge and are so willing to share what they know it is such a great community. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, there was at least 10 of us and I hope we do it monthly!
